Adobe Bridge CS3 Locks up Explorer

Wanted to see if anyone searching google found this thread and experienced the same problem.
Sometimes, not always, but often, when running Adobe Bridge CS3, windows explorer completely ceases to function. The start button will no longer work, any open folders will give the "Not Responding" message, and everything is inaccessible. Note that while this is happening you can still manipulate files inside of Bridge no problem, including copy&paste, deleting etc. When closing Bridge all these symptoms disappear immediately and explorer is again working fine.
This is on a machine running Windows XP SP3, with Adobe Bridge v2.0.0.975

If anyone finds a solution to this issue, or experiences the same problems, please post a reply thread as this is very annoying.

I will note that I didn't seem to have these issues until after attempting to install the CS4 suite, which gave me the "Critical Error 1608", of which ALL of the known fixes will not work, and I know the installation is OK as I have installed it on a virtual XP machine without issues. It could possibly be some CS4 files hanging around causing the issues, and I have installed the "Windows Install Clean-Up" tool, that still shows some various CS4 files mainly related to Photoshop, but I am leary to uninstall them without doing a full suite reinstall which would be a Major PITA which I hope to avoid. The files for instance are like "Adobe CMaps [2.0], Adobe Color - Photoshop Specific CS4 [2.0], Adobe Color Video Profiles S CS4 [2.0], as you can see from these files they all seem related to Photoshop, and the issue described above occurs with or without Photoshop open.
